How can we bring the energy and magic of theatre into the non-drama classroom? Drama in education techniques can be applied across the curriculum, and its multi-modal dimensions are especially helpful in reaching those squirrelly and restless students who chafe at conventional classroom structure. Presenter Ramón Esquivel will guide participants through one of his favorite simulations, which is applicable in elementary, middle, high school, and even college classrooms. Participants will break down and discuss the elements of a successful simulation, and then launch into designing their own lesson plan using drama in education techniques. This workshop will especially appeal to current and future classroom teachers and teaching artists.
