Thanks for the note: Taking (and growing from) tough feedback

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Notes are fundamental to the process of making theatre. They are how we communicate with one another: our language. Our productions and individual growth as artists depend on our ability to receive and interpret notes well. But of course, this is easier said than done. Notes can be vague, ill timed, trigger our emotions, or all of the above. And what about notes we simply disagree with?! In this workshop (aimed at designers, directors, SMs, and actors alike) we will identify obstacles (internal and external) to receiving notes and ways around them. Using your own examples, we’ll practice decoding, translating, and truth mining even the most difficult notes. Lastly, we’ll look ahead and brainstorm ways to actively pursue growth-stimulating feedback like our livelihoods depended on it: because they do.
